Noel Holmes

With a background in fine art and textile design, drawing has always been part of my practice. I teach drawing  in a variety of contexts including Arts University Bournemouth and currently as a visual arts tutor at the Forest Arts Centre, Hampshire. My classes include life drawing, still life, landscape drawing and painting.

My intention is always to find the means to bring out self expression in my students, at whatever level. Drawing is a uniquely meditative  experience. Working in mixed media such as charcoal, ink and wax as well as pencil, knowledge of formal drawing techniques and principles is integrated into the lesson holistically in order for individual students to find their own unique vision.

We work in a range of mixed media such as charcoal, ink , watercolour as well as pencil.

Knowledge of   formal drawing techniques and principles is integrated into the lesson holistically in order for individual students to find their own unique vision.

Teaching art since 1997, in  and around London & Dorset, with a background in theatre design, I wanted to curate an experience of art, colour and feasting, 'a movable feast' within a stage of the outdoor countryside. Envisage a 'Chekov play dining and drawing under the blossoms of spring' or within an 'outdoor picnic scene of a painting by Renoir 'and you will see what we are trying to recreate.

Overall, my love of Art and feasts hopefully can provide a unique and enjoyable experience in the countryside, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters creativity and connection with the land. I am about to embark on training as a art therapist, this I hope to  provide skills and experience to help people connect with their emotions and inner selves through the creative process.

Owner and founder of the 'Art Bee', art clubs around the south coast, that increase passion for creativity within the extended curriculum in schools. With a degree in textile design, I am a trained teacher & artist, having taught in a number of schools as the art co-ordinator, over a number of years.

With a dedication to inspire everyone to embrace their creativity, I have enjoyed producing a platform for individuals of all ages to explore their artistic abilities and discover the joy of self-expression with drawing, painting, printing and collage. My passion for being creative has been with me since my childhood and my aim is to go above and beyond to ignite the artist within each person I encounter and to encourage the same infectious attitude towards creativity. As a teacher, I like to a create a nurturing, engaging and inspiring environment for students to explore their own artistic journeys, push boundaries and find their flare for art.
